Summer Intern- Building Automation Systems

Works with: Project Managers, engineers, customers, service department, electrical/mechanical contractors
Job Summary: The selected candidate will be doing controller pre-programming, equipment sequence testing at job sites, and building automation system commissioning at job sites.
|Duties:||Responsible for installing and servicing products and equipment on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction with supervision and guidance from other team members.|
Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to install, diagnose, repair, and program HVAC equipment.
Has the following technical skills related to building automation systems:
-Ability to troubleshoot and add basic devices using the Rover software package
-Ability to add basic system graphics to the Tracer Summit software package
-Ability to commission VAVs and basic Trane AHUs including Tracer Summit programming and configuration
-Ability to assist in commissioning activities for a building automation system and complete commissioning documentation.
Has an understanding of the following communication protocols; Comm 4, Comm 5 (Lon), Ethernet, and Modbus
Understand the use and application for Trane controllers and hardware including; MP503s, MP520s, MP580s, and BCUs.
Ability to understand basic programming for Trane systems
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings including; wiring, architecture, and sequences.
Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs instruments and products at customer locations.
Performs preventive maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed by customers.
Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work as necessary.
Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of wear (maladjustment, poor calibration, malfunction, and drift).
Completes dispatch logs in a timely manner.
Represents Tozour-Trane by serving as a direct customer contact.
Supports HVAC Field Technicians by providing technical assistance and offering guidance.
Assists in training and follow-up training at customer sites, as well as technical support.
Utilizes project plans to prioritize and schedule work sequences.
Assists in determining parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
Other responsibilities as required.
|Qualifications:||Must be in pursuit of a degree in engineering, programming, or other related technical field. |
Must be a current student at a college or university.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD, and programming highly preferred.
Must be able to work full-time from June 2013-August 2013.
Must have an active, valid driverís license and must be able to commute regularly to the office and job sites.
